International Education Week is a special time when the University of South Alabama can join various colleges, universities, embassies and community organizations around the world to focus on recognizing our international students, scholars and employees, said Dr. Richard Carter, 勛圖惇蹋 associate vice president for global engagement. Through the events and activities this week, the goal is for students to become more aware of how small our world actually is and appreciate the richness and strength within different cultures.
Nearly 60 countries are represented in Souths student population. One of those is the Dominican Republic, the home country to Kassy Urena Rodriguez, a senior majoring in international studies and foreign languages.
"The University of South Alabama has helped me expand my horizons with their work with international students and study abroad programs. Thanks to South, I was able to get closer to my goals of traveling by studying abroad in Russia, then France, helping understand other languages and culture, she said. Ive been able to interact with people from around the globe and learn about their cultures.
