Marx Library Auditorium and Meeting Room Usage Policy

The Marx Library includes:

  • An Auditorium seating 124 and four wheelchairs
  • Gallery 181 (Room 181) seating 50 (with tables) and up to 60 theatre-style
  • Room 171 seating 15 with tables
  • Room 123 seating 10 (Reserved for current 勛圖惇蹋 faculty and students only

Areas available by Special Request:

  • Art Gallery seating 50
  • Room 115 (M1) & (M2)  Agati stations seating 14 each with 64in monitors (Reserved for current 勛圖惇蹋 faculty and students only)
  • Room 306  seating 30 with 28 pc workstations
  • Room 306A Skype Room seating (4) with Skype only conference software available.

Reservations for use of Marx Librarys The Marx Library Auditorium and meeting rooms are not authorized for regularly scheduled classes. Approval for use is prioritized as:

  • Events booked through the University of South Alabamas Event Reservation System (EMS)
  • Library instruction classes
  • University & Campus Student Organization events
  • University classes requiring the use of media resources
  • University academic events
  • Non-Library events
  • Non-University events

Cancellations:

Cancellations by an Organization:

Cancellations by the Library: If it is necessary to give priority to (or cancel) one event in favor of another, the organization holding the reservation will be notified as soon as possible. 

Use of Equipment

Use of equipment must be requested on the reservation form.

Marx Library Auditorium (110) equipment includes:

Gallery 181 (Room 181) equipment includes:

  • PC with Internet access
  • Laptop Interface Capability with WiFi access

  • SD drive with with port & USB cable access
  • Slide Advancer / Laser Pointer

Room 171 equipment includes:

Users' Responsibilities:

  • The requesting organization is responsible for returning the library auditorium and meeting rooms to their original condition. The user will be required to pay all damage loss, and the cost of excessive cleanup. A damage deposit may be required of non-University groups.
  • Nothing may be attached to the walls, doors, ceiling tiles, furniture, screen or areas outside the Auditorium and meeting rooms.
  • Fire code prohibits any open flames, including incense or candles.
  • Emergency doors may only be opened in case of fire or other emergency.
  • Personal equipment, supplies, or belongings cannot be stored or left in the  Marx Library Auditorium, meeting rooms or open areas.
  • The Marx Library is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
  • Teachers (K-12) or adults must supervise students and children at all times.
  • Noise must be kept to a reasonable level.
  • Marx Library cannot be used as a contact for information about the event.
  • Copyright guidelines must be followed when showing movies or videos. Copyright laws apply anytime an audiovisual work (all formats) is shown in Marx Library. Whether the audiovisual is purchased, rented, or borrowed from the library, users must verify that the movie has public performance rights (PPR). Refer to the Copyright Guidelines on this site. Fees

The fee policy covers the use of the Marx Library Auditorium, Gallery 181 (Room 181), Room 171 and Room 123.

 University Affiliated Organizations:

$25.00 minimum cleanup fee, if required.

Non-University Affiliated Organizations:

$25.00 per hour usage fee during normal business hours.
