Undergraduate students studying at the University of South Alabama Stokes School of Marine and Environmental Sciences are guided by a world-renown faculty with expertise ranging from fisheries sciences to marine ecology and ocean physics. Outside of classroom experiences, students have access to a variety of internship opportunities where they can gain hands-on experience prior to graduation.

Funded by the National Science Foundation - Division of Ocean Sciences Research Experiences for Undergraduates Program and the Dauphin Island Sea Lab, the focus of the DISL REU Program is to provide participants with the opportunity to carry out an independent research project while working under the direction of a faculty mentor as part of a productive research laboratory.
The Fish and Wildlife Research Institute’s (FWRI) Sea Turtle Nesting Program is seeking up to four detail-oriented interns for each term to assist with field work, lab work, and data processing coponents of various research projects on sea turtle nesting ecology.
Projects may include research related to nesting, hatching, and emergence success, phenology, and sex ratio related to climate change. The research will support population and nesting trend analyses and conservation status assessments.
These positions are located in Melbourne, on the central-east coast of Florida. The summer and fall terms will be largely field-based but will also have a considerable laboratory component and some data processing.
This is a program for students at all levels to receive a stipend/tuition/etc. and have a guaranteed Federal position at a DoD lab, like ERDC, after graduation.
he program is open to anyone with a real interest in sharks and a healthy passion for marine life. No previous diving, research or conservation experience is necessary and training in those fields will be provided. We will teach you how to explore, understand and protect our beautiful oceans.
